Where is Ferryman’s Obol?
Ferryman’s Obol is in a chest in Mammon’s Lair, Catacombs of Paris. Open the chest, then take the Obol back to a Ferryman at a wharf you have already opened. When his reward orb appears, interact with it to receive The Whisperer and Freezing Path. Arriving at a wharf alone does not claim the spell.
To enter Mammon’s Lair through the flesh-and-eyes door in Circle of Greed, equip all three eye relics together: Oozing Eye, Trembling Eye and Thrilling Eye. Interact with the door, then use the entrance inside. Follow the linked Catacombs guide for the separate eye locations.
Which wharf should I return to?
Use an active wharf you can already reach. The atlas links nine Ferryman rooms; these are places to meet him and travel, rather than nine separate card rewards. Choose the nearest convenient wharf instead of treating the Paris Streets location as the only turn-in point.
Fast travel and Freezing Path serve different purposes. Wharves move you between visited destinations; Freezing Path is an equipped combat spell. Unlocking a travel destination and completing the Obol reward interaction are separate steps.
How to freeze an enemy and break the ice
Freezing Path gives Rose 3 seconds of faster, intangible movement and freezes enemies she passes through. Its base mana cost is 35. Move through the target to apply the freeze, then follow with an attack: the next hit breaks the ice and deals additional damage.
For the “defeat 25 enemies by breaking the ice” Work of Mercy, the ice-breaking hit must defeat the enemy. Freezing a target and finishing it with a later unrelated hit does not meet that description. As a planning approach, lower a durable enemy’s health before freezing it so the breaking hit can finish the fight.
Why the spell matters in the Four Virtues
Temperance of Mary requires Freezing Path equipped at its entrance. Carrying the Obol or owning The Whisperer does not substitute for equipping the spell. Complete the trial and strike its final bell to claim Temperance, then use the Four Virtues guide for the remaining entrances.
