Normal ending guide: the real final area and rooftop decision

Avoid the false quarters, reach Dracula’s real final battle, and understand how missing Absolution or letting its final window expire leads to the normal ending.

Start by avoiding the false quarters

The normal ending follows the real final route in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Before entering the final area, check the Cursed Horologium in the Clock Tower. Claim Soul Harvest from Death in Notre-Dame, equip it and use the clock mechanism to disarm the trap. Continuing with the trap armed leads to the false Master’s Quarters and the bad-ending branch, rather than the normal ending described here.

Treat the mechanism’s last state as the important detail. It can be used again to re-arm the trap, so repeating an interaction after disarming it can undo the route you intended to take. Use the linked clock marker to find the right room and read its operation. If you are already comparing the repeated false antechambers, consult the bad-ending map before assuming you reached the real final destination.

Complete Dracula’s two-form final battle

With the clock trap disarmed, proceed to the real Master’s Quarters. The mapped references distinguish the Court of the Night from the Castle Rooftops, where Dracula’s second form is fought. Use both references to understand the final encounter’s progression. Reaching a boss-room marker alone does not mean that every stage of the encounter or the ending sequence has already finished.

Prepare your preferred weapon, Relics and recovery resources before committing to the battle. The linked two-form Dracula guide covers the encounter separately, while the map helps you keep the final rooms straight. If you need combat help, read that guide before entering, then return here for the ending decision. Complete the rooftop second form and continue the subsequent dialogue before checking the final spell choice.

The two known normal-ending branches

If Absolution has not been obtained, the normal-ending branch follows the rooftop battle. Absolution is the spell associated with The Self, obtained after the four virtue trials and the Doppelganger encounter. Reading the prophecy tablet in the Gallery of the Four Virtues supplies a clue; it does not award this spell. Check the actual reward you claimed if you are unsure what your character currently owns.

There is also a normal-ending branch when Absolution is owned but the final casting window expires before purification begins. After the dialogue about breaking the curse and the return of control, the window lasts 12 seconds. For a deliberate normal-ending run with the spell already collected, allow that window to pass without beginning purification. Having the spell in your inventory does not force the true ending automatically.

Choose the ending before the final dialogue

Ordinary combat spell choices are separate from the ending action. If you decide that you actually want the true ending, prepare Absolution before the battle and follow the true-ending guide: begin holding the spell button promptly when control returns, then maintain the hold until the purification scene continues. Waiting through the window and pressing afterward does not follow that required timing.

Keep the route checks in order: disarm the clock trap, reach the real final rooms, defeat the rooftop second form, and then make the post-dialogue decision. The map and article links below help you check each location without confusing it with the false branch. This site does not save collection or ending progress. Any later replay should be arranged using the continuation and save options actually offered by your game.
