Where do you get Vampire Killer?
Vampire Killer is awarded during the first story event in Deacon’s Quarter, Notre-Dame. Use the room link below to find the relevant room. This is a story reward, so search for the room’s event rather than a weapon chest or an enemy drop.
Arcane Whip is the exploration ability introduced after The Fallen. Vampire Killer is an equippable whip weapon. Reaching a grapple anchor or learning to swing does not mean this weapon has entered your inventory. Check the weapon menu when looking for the legendary whip.
How do the burn and explosion work?
Vampire Killer’s description gives it two effects: whip-tip hits burn enemies, and kills trigger a fiery explosion. The useful spacing question is whether the end of the whip reaches your target. Standing directly against an enemy does not let you assume every hit is a tip hit.
Practise at a distance where the whip’s end reaches an enemy, then adjust as it moves. For groups, watch the space around a defeated target so you can use the explosion without chasing every enemy into close range. This is a positioning suggestion based on the effects, rather than a measured damage rotation.
How to perform a Whip Strike
Aim toward an enemy, use the grapple action to pull Rose toward it, then press the main attack while approaching. This performs a Whip Strike, whose move depends on the equipped weapon. With Vampire Killer, the listed move is Whip Drag. Use the action bindings shown by your own keyboard or controller setup.
Swinging from a golden ring, pulling toward a purple anchor and grappling an enemy are different applications. For movement practice, use the Arcane Whip return-route guide. For a weapon follow-up, aim at the enemy and time the main attack during the approach.
Compare the four whips before switching
The four equippable whips are Whip, Thorn Whip, Morning Star and Vampire Killer. Vampire Killer lists 40 base attack, 3 mana per hit and 100 displayed DPS. Displayed DPS is a menu value; it does not account for how often your tip hits, movement time or your relic conditions.
Use the equipment links for each whip’s own acquisition location. The Cathedral story reward does not make the other three whips prerequisites that must be collected first.
