How do I get more value from potions?
Witch’s Knot makes a healing potion restore health to full. Blood Vial grants an extra temporary healing potion after interacting in a save room. Nightshade adds recovery of 40% maximum mana when you use a healing potion. Choose according to whether you need a larger heal, an additional charge or help restoring mana.
Use a Mirror of Life to restore HP and MP and refill potions before leaving for a difficult branch. Mirrors also bring nearby monsters back. The extra potion from Blood Vial is temporary; its description does not make it a permanent maximum-potion upgrade.
Why can’t I drink a potion with Blackened Heart?
Blackened Heart heals 2 HP when attacks hit, but disables healing potions. The potion restriction is part of the relic’s tradeoff. If your survival plan depends on drinking for health or triggering Nightshade for mana, check this conflict before entering a fight.
Bernhard’s Wrath provides a different route to healing: its enemy hits recover a percentage of maximum health according to fist charge. Wraith’s Tear instead heals 7% of maximum health when retaliating against an enemy that hurt Rose; that same enemy must hurt her again before the effect resets. These triggers should not be treated as identical passive regeneration.
Choose protection for the incoming danger
Ghostly Pendant reduces trap damage by 75%. Haunting Relic raises defense by 60% for 4 seconds after a hit. The first addresses traps; the second gives a defensive window after damage has already occurred. A defense increase is not automatically the same percentage of damage reduction.
Pale Thorn reduces frontal damage by 60% but increases damage from behind by 100%. It is easier to use when enemies stay in front of Rose. If you are being surrounded, that directional penalty matters more than the appealing front-facing number.
Should I build around low health?
Shadow Veil increases defense by 33% at 33% health or less. Specter’s Whisper increases damage by 30% at 20% health or less. They activate at different thresholds, and neither restores health by itself. Use the thresholds to understand your equipment instead of deliberately staying one hit from defeat during an unfamiliar encounter.
Beelzebub’s Seal exchanges 50% maximum health for 30% more damage. As a planning choice, compare that smaller health bar with the mistakes you can currently survive before treating the damage bonus as an upgrade for every situation.
